Effective Ways To Stop Snoring

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric If you have been looking for ways to stop snoring , but keep coming up short on results, don't give up hope. There are actually many ways to stop snoring and some of them can even start working tonight. One of the best ways to stop snoring is to change your sleeping position. If you constantly find yourself sleeping on your back, try resting on your side instead. Studies show that people who sleep on their back are more likely to snore than those who do not.   Another of the most effective ways to stop snoring is to elevate your head by several more inches with the use of a second pillow. If you currently only use one pillow, try using two instead.   Did you know that obesity plays an important role in everything that you do, including snoring? Not many people are aware of this, but being overweight is one of the leading causes of snoring.   Therefore, weight loss is also one of the best ways to stop snoring . A well-balanced program of diet and exercise may help

Do You Have This Bad Habit?

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric It's likely that all of us have this bad habit to some extent, and I nominate it for the title of the worst habit one can have. What is it? Fighting reality rather than accepting and dealing with things the way they are. Here are some examples, and a few suggestions as to how to break this habit. Are You Fighting Reality?   Fighting reality is a subtle habit, expressing itself in everything from blaming others for our problems to getting angry at traffic, to wishful thinking. How do know when you are doing it? Watch for these clues.   Consider how rarely you complain, or are angry or annoyed because rocks are hard and water is wet. Your easy acceptance of the facts of nature is due to clearly seeing this is simply the way it is. You have no ideas that rocks should be soft or water dry. In other areas of life, however, you probably do have ideas about how things "should be." This is the first clue that you may be "fighting reality."   Of course y

Continuing Professional Development

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric According to the dictionary, " Continuing professional development is the means by which members of professional associations maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required in their professional lives." Continuing professional development ensures that professionals keep developing their knowledge and skills, as well as improve their competence. One can undertake a continuing professional development program through the following modes: home-based learning with the use of audio, video or multi-media resources and other distance-learning material; action-based learning or studying problem solution methods through workplace experience; supervised research; and conferences, seminars, workshops or other technical and professional events and meetings.   Continuing professional development accentuates a person's education, development and effective professional performance. In the US, professional organizati

Concept Combination For Creative Problem Solving

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric There are many creative problem solving techniques used by inventors to come up with new solutions to old problems. For sheer innovation, though, it's hard to beat the technique of concept-combination. Just start combining ideas and things, and voila, you're having fun - and maybe creating something new. Innovation or Inovation?   Combining the concept of search engine misspellings with article writing gave me "inovation." What good is that? Well, now that I've used the misspelled word twice, the thousand people every month that type "inovation" into search engines can find this article.   "Search engine" combined with "people," could lead to the first search engine devoted entirely to information on individuals. "People" plus "advertising" might lead to the first large-scale paid-tatoo-placement campaign. Want a monthly stipend for having a Coke logo on your forehead?   Much of the innovation you

Communicating On The Telephone

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric One of the most common things we do on a day to day basis is communicate with other people. Good communication can lead to a better understanding of people and perhaps more importantly, allowing others to fully understand us. This is especially important in business. Communication means have changed dramatically over the years, with the introduction of modern telecommunications such as faxes and email, but still the most widely used communication tool is the telephone. The telephone is a very powerful tool, especially when used within a business environment and many people underestimate its importance and more importantly, the importance of the person using it.   When a potential client phones a company, their first impression of that company is created by the person who answers the phone. In order to ensure that the caller develops a positive image within their mind, the person answering the call must be efficient, confident and capable of inspiring confidence in the

Character Over Reputation

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric Political and church leaders, actors and actresses, singers, writers, athletes, professors, engineers, doctors, lawyers and practically everyone (although they may not be even aware of what it truly means) are undoubtedly concerned about their REPUTATION. Even if we give high regards to integrity and dignity as values taught everywhere in the world, we have been continuously startled by news of moral downfalls. We’ve all heard of government officials being persecuted, famous professional athletes linked to drug usage, popular actors involved in crimes, businessmen proven to have committed unethical practices, and preachers not measuring up to what is expected from them. Sadly, the list seems endless. More than ever, there is a necessity for us to in still in ourselves not just good reputation, but more importantly, good character. Most of us are so concerned about our image - on how others may look at us. Let me make this clear though. I am not saying there is some

Living The Dream --- Yours Or Theirs?

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric I know people in my life who when asked how are things going, will reply, “I’m living the dream.” Can you say the same? If you could, what would it mean?  As far back as Sigmund Freud , psychologists have been saying that there are two major areas in a person’s life---love and work. When you are “living the dream,” you will be able to say that you have found satisfying work and are fulfilled in the relationships you share with the important people in your life. Now, I ask again, “Are you living the dream?” Let’s talk about work first. When you wake up in the morning are you filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation for what your day at work has in store for you or do you have a sense of dread about what lies ahead? Of course, these are two opposite ends of the spectrum and more than likely you fall somewhere in between. As a parent, I always advised my children to choose a profession that they love because they will be spending a lot of their time doing it. I

By:  Ivan Cavric Let’s get straight into it!  If you want to live a happy life, then you MUST spend some time deciding what you want to do with your life, and then make the effort to live that life with passion.  It’s up to you  No-one else is going to do it for you.  So, take some time out from your busy day-to-day routine, and consider the following questions.  1. What is my life’s purpose?  2. If I had to take a best guess at my life’s purpose, what would it be?  3. Who am I?  4. What is the most important thing in my life?  5. What do I love to do, more than anything else?  6. If I had only six months left to live, what would I like to achieve?  7. What would I like to leave the world, as my legacy?  8. What would I do with my life, if I knew I could not fail?  9. If money, or time, or current responsibilities were not an issue, what would I like to do with my life, more than anything else in the world?  10. What activities have I discovered that give me the most pleasure?  11. Wha

A Startling Fact About The Dangers Of Labeling

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric Quite often, we use labels on ourselves and others without even realizing that we are doing it. And most often, they are negative.  What we don’t realize is how much theses labels can hurt us and others.  The challenge is, what ever you state to yourself repetitively, even if you know on a conscious level that it is not true, your subconscious mind believes it.   For example, after misplacing something, have you ever said to your self, "I am so stupid."  You know that you are just annoyed but your subconscious takes you seriously. Once your subconscious mind believes something, it sets out to confirm it's belief and it can self sabotage your efforts to change and grow.  In fact, you may be holding several labels on yourself that you are not even aware of because you have been saying and believing them for so long.  They may be about how well you believe you can learn, cook, drive or even show up on time.  These labels literately control your life and stop

Three Reasons to Stop Being a People Pleaser

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric It took me years to acknowledge that I was a People Pleaser.  I am shifting away from that pattern of behavior and find great relief and satisfaction in the change.  Here I am, an independent, successful woman with a mind of my own.  How could I be a People Pleaser?  Another term to describe this pattern is compliance, and that says more to me regarding my actions.  I would consistently avoid conflict, ignore what I didn't agree with, and do lots of good deeds which would boost my worth.  I was mostly nice, except for times of exploded emotion in an attempt to deal with conflict.  I did not speak my mind even though I knew what I thought.  What I didn't know so well was what I felt, what my needs were and how to express them. The moment I discovered I was a People Pleaser was on my birthday last year.  A close friend and my husband helped me to celebrate the day.  After a leisurely brunch, I said to them, 'What would you like to do today?'  They replied

Choosing Cuff Links For Everyday Wear

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric Many believe that the way you choose to convey your outward appearance is a reflection of your true self. When you first meet someone, this is your opportunity to make a memorable first impression. If you dress to impress, the people around you will notice because whether or not they realize it, people often make decisions based on appearance. For a man, choosing the right cuff links may not seem important, but these small accessories may very well be the staple that pulls the entire look together.   If you want to dress to impress, this doesn't mean you have to wear uncomfortable shoes and a business suit every day. But, for a man who wears a suit to work, cuff links are a must. If he dresses business casual, which may mean a khaki pant and dress shirt, cuff links will be even more visible than when worn with a suit jacket. As a general rule, cuff links should be made of the same color metal as the belt buckle, watch or wedding band that a man wears. If the access

Baseball Betting: How To Bet Basics

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric If you know nothing about sports and you still feel the urge to wager, baseball is the easiest sports to wager on. As opposed to football and basketball, where you are mixed up with the point spreads and other confusing calculations, in baseball betting you simply put your money on the outcome of the game. In addition, the baseball season lasts longer, which means more matches and bigger chances to go home with the winning money. Here is a step to step guide to baseball betting.  The main difference between baseball betting and other team sports betting such as football and basketball is that while the latter ones use point spreads, the former uses the money line.   What is a Point Spread? Point spread is the most common betting type offered in football and basketball betting. The sportsbook spreads the odd of a certain match by subtracting points from the favourite team, which is the team most likely to win and adding points to the underdog, which is the team that wil
