Can't Find Your One True Path?

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric So you're trying to figure out what you're going to be when you grow up. The problem is you're 38, have two grown children and a husband, not to mention two cats and a dog named Sirius Black Dixon. Oh, wait, sorry, I guess I got distracted and thought we were talking about me. Back to you. You're physically "grown," but you haven't found your "one true path." You don’t know yet what you’re going to do with your life, and you’re feeling lost, confused, and worried. Okay, let's start with the brutal truth here. If you have spent a lot of time, effort and creative energy looking for your one true path, I have bad news.   You probably don't have one. You see, people who have one true paths know they do and they know what they are. This is not always true. Nothing is always true. But in general, people who “home in” on one career do it early and stick with it, or if they change careers, they do it in a reasoned, considered way...

Reduce Limiting Beliefs in Three Steps

Image
We live in an amazing time and are afforded the luxury of opportunities to live intentional lives.  There is nothing to stop us from living our dreams except ourselves.  Do you know what your dream is, what your purpose is, what gets you out of bed in the morning?  If you do know all that, what is holding you back from your success? (p.s. How do you define success for yourself?) Once we can target where we are and how we want to proceed, sometimes it is a mystery that we find ourselves stuck.  ‘Stuckness’ can serve a purpose.  It can be a necessary percolating time to learn what we need to move forward.  When that percolating time has finished, it may be time to figure out what stumbling blocks we aren’t aware of.  One area to explore is thoughts we have stored and accepted as true, that have become limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs are many times unconscious messages that may no longer be valid or useful to us.  The messages we receive come from...

Three Questions To Empower You

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric For most people in our society, life will hold little more than a dutiful slog in the 9-5 rat race for forty years before retiring. Many will look back on their lives and wished they’d had an opportunity to have done something different. Some may have even had opportunities to do so but didn’t take them. One thought is very common: “I wish I could’ve done something else but I never really knew what I wanted to do.” Sounds familiar, yes? Relax. Because I can help you identify what it is you’d really like to do and I can show you how to begin. It all starts by asking yourself three very important questions and I believe these questions are the most important questions you can ask yourself. Here they are: 1. What, EXACTLY, do I want to do? This question gets straight to the heart of the matter and it requires SPECIFIC answers. Also, your answer should be something you have a passion for and are genuinely interested in and not something you think others would be impres...

Dealing With An Angry Person

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric Everyone is periodically faced with an angry person, and can be challenging to deal with. I'd like to share a few ideas in how to react to another's anger, whether it's a spouse, friend, or even a stranger. Some of these will also apply if you are angry yourself, which of course is something to avoid in the first place. Listen   Let the person vent a little, and get their words and feelings out. If you interrupt them too quickly to defend yourself, it's going to just make things worse. Wait for them to finish or for a pause. Being a good listener is an important skill in many other situations also. A good technique for listening is to ask questions. It not only helps you understand them better, but shows them you truly care to understand.   Stay Calm - Don't go into anger mode yourself, it just compounds the situation. Just remind yourself that anger is unlikely to accomplish anything good, so why do it.   Validate   Validate their anger, do no...

Personal Development - It's All In Your Head!

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric There is a lot of information available online about Personal Development. There are a myriad of different, techniques, solutions, tapes, CDs, seminars etc. But have you ever been able to get them to work? Have you have tried everything on the market? Do you jump on all the new fads and courses? If you do and your life is still not working or you have come to the point where you are seriously starting to doubt if any of this stuff really works then you need to read this article now! Does this sound like you?   Is nothing working in your life? No matter how many self improvement tapes you listen to do you just seem to be stuck on the same merry-go-round? Is your job is unsatisfying and do your personal relationships "suck"? Are your finances a mess and could your health be better? If can answer "yes' to any of these questions, or worse you can answer "yes" to all of them, then you need to set yourself straight in your own mind!   Firstly, a...

Learning How To Overcome Self-Sabotage

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric It's easy to forget just how powerful our subconscious minds can be. We are often completely unaware of how our actions or in-actions are affecting our lives. We may complain that things never work out for us, we have bad luck, or we just don't have what it takes to be successful. What we fail to realize is that we are actually creating our own circumstances through subconscious self-sabotage. In order to overcome self-sabotage we first have to use conscious awareness to explore our emotions and fears, and understand how they influence our actions. Once we have determined the cause of the destructive behaviour, we can then take steps to prevent it from happening in the future. What's really hap pening when we sabotage ourselves? Subconsciously, we may be frightened by a particular outcome, even though we say we want it. Take, for example, losing weight. Many overweight people have struggled for years, tried diet after diet, and still can't lose t he wei...

2022 Is Already Setting Up To Fail

Image
By:  Ivan Cavric It’s only a couple of weeks into the New Year and all those goals and resolutions you wanted for yourself are already slipping away. One of two things is happening: Either you simply never got started, or you’re running out of steam. Not getting started is common. Even with all the great enthusiasm and excitement we had about the year, the diversion of the holidays and then just trying to get back into our normal routines didn’t allow us to incorporate our new goals into our old schedules. The goals we initially set now seem too difficult to know where to start. Simply put, we are busy and distracted by the overall tasks of our lives. Don’t worry. There is always “tomorrow” or next year. The other common element to resolution failure is burn out. It is comically predictable, but have you ever noticed the level of activity the first week of January? Go to any gym and you will see it packed. In fact, January 1st and 2nd are two of the busiest days in gym attend...
