Don't Wait for a Sign - God's Will is Written in the Bible

by:  Ivan Cavric

As Christians, we often seek God's will in our lives. We wonder what our purpose is and what God has planned for us. We may pray for guidance and direction, hoping to discern God's will for our lives. But what if I told you that God's will is not a mystery, that it is clearly written in the Bible? There are over 1500 verses that start with "I will." It's time to stop making excuses and start believing them.

When we say "if it is God's will," we can sometimes use it as a way to avoid responsibility for our actions and decisions. But the truth is, God has made His will clear to us in the Bible. When we study the Scriptures, we can see what God desires for us and how we should live our lives.

One of the most well-known verses about God's will is found in Romans 12:2: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." This verse reminds us that God's will is good, pleasing, and perfect. We don't need to worry that following God's will will lead us astray or cause us harm.

Another important verse about God's will is found in Ephesians 5:17: "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." This verse reminds us that we need to be intentional about understanding God's will. We can't simply sit back and wait for God to reveal His will to us. We need to actively seek it out by studying the Scriptures, praying, and seeking wise counsel.

When we look at the many verses that start with "I will," we see that God's will encompasses many different areas of our lives. For example:

  • In Deuteronomy 31:6, God says "I will never leave you nor forsake you." This reminds us that God is always with us, even in the midst of difficult times.
  • In Isaiah 41:10, God says "I will strengthen you and help you." This reminds us that we can rely on God's strength and help when we feel weak or overwhelmed.
  • In Jeremiah 29:11, God says "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This reminds us that God has a specific plan for each of our lives and that His plan is good.

When we believe these verses, we can have confidence in God's will for our lives. We don't need to be afraid of what the future holds or worry that we will make the wrong decisions. As long as we are seeking to follow God's will as revealed in the Bible, we can trust that we are on the right path.

Of course, this doesn't mean that we will always know exactly what God's will is in every situation. There may be times when we need to seek God's guidance and discernment. But when we approach these situations with a foundation of trust in God's character and His revealed will, we can have confidence that He will guide us.

As Christians, we should seek to align our lives with God's will. But we don't need to wonder what that will is - it is clearly written in the Bible. There are over 1500 verses that start with "I will," and we should believe them and live accordingly. When we trust in God's goodness and His plan for our lives, we can have confidence that we are on the right path, even when we face challenges and difficulties. So let's stop making excuses and start believing in God and take Him at his word.
